Sons Of The American Legion

“Proud possessors of a priceless heritage, we male descendants of Veterans of the Great Wars, associate ourselves together as Sons of The American Legion”

Sons of The American Legion Squadron 1084 is an energetic group of men working to strengthen the Four Pillars of The American Legion. We support and participate in activities that place an emphasis on preserving American traditions and values, improve the quality of life for our nation’s children, care for veterans and their families, and teach the fundamentals of good citizenship.

Sons are permitted flexibility in planning programs and activities and to determine the extent of our services to the community, state, and nation. We are always mindful of our primary mission – to strengthen the Four Pillars of The American Legion – in all that we do.

To this end Squadron 1084 conducts several fundraising events throughout the year. Proceeds are used to support veteran causes and services to those in need as determined by the Squadron. Recent fundraising events have included our popular cooked corn booth at the Taste of Roselle festival; selling Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches; indoor and outdoor bean bag tournaments; and two Fish Fry nights. .

Squadron 1084 has recently supported the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans, James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Facility, American Legion National Emergency Fund, Child Welfare Foundation, Edward Hines VA Hospital, and Elmhurst Elks Veterans Thanksgiving Dinner. We hold an annual luncheon for veterans at the James A Lovell Federal Health Care Facility in North Chicago, Illinois.

Squadron members work hand in hand participating with Post 1084 Legion Family members to assist with their programs and activities including Color Guard, Poppy Days, Gifts To The Yanks, North Chicago Luncheon and Picnic, Lenten Fish Frys, School Citizenship Awards, Legion Family Scholarships, Boys State, Flags for Roselle, American English Veterans Concert, and many other activities.

We are the Home Squadron of Past Detachment of Illinois Commander Mark E. Melone

Membership in the Sons of The American Legion is a wonderful way to honor your, father, grandfather, or great grandfather’s service to our country!

General Squadron Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7pm.
